User Interface Designer

ShoppingScout is bringing a revolutionary solution to the retail marketplace that will forever change the way people shop both online and offline. Our consumer facing solution will help shoppers save money, time and improve the quality of their lives. Our offices are located in downtown San Francisco and Scottsdale, Arizona.
As a part-time, cash & equity-based compensation position: ShoppingScout is seeking a motivated, skilled and experienced product designer, who has designed and ideally self-started web-based interactive projects; someone who is comfortable working in a rapidly-growing start-up environment, translating high-level guidance and concepts into compelling interactions and elegant visual user interfaces.
You will work in an agile environment to rapidly design and iterate the product design, including the end-to-end experience. Be hands on creating the front-end visual design and coding. You are 70% designer and 30% technical, able to design compelling visual designs while also coding in HTML/CSS when needed. Must have a positive attitude, good energy, strong communication skills (interpersonal, written, and spoken); reach out to others in the organization and ability to work autonomously.

- Ensure product is easy to use and visually appealing
Required
- Strong design portfolio
- Excellent product, interaction and design experience
- Willingness to innovate and shape amazing experiences
- Strong communication and analytical skills to explain design decisions
- Passion for designing web-based interactive products
- Ability to build what you design (HTML/CSS/DHTML)
- B.S. in Computer Science, HCI, MIS, or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience with product strategy
- Experience with mobile design
- Familiarity with Java
